Winter Beach Party

This is kind of a big one.  If you have 10 to 15 members that are your "usuals" this one may work for you, if you only have 5 or 6 "usuals" it may be too much work to be worth it.

What we do is pull all the trucks out of the bay, make a "beach sand" dance floor, complete with volleyball net (recommend using beach balls, because no one likes getting their table hit with a regulation ball), stage for the DJ (optional as it is a large expense if you don't already have one.  Tiki-bar to serve from, buffet table with burgers, dogs, juice & soda, door prizes, and 50/50, and of course, what beach party is complete without the Bikini Contest.

Time Frame

Late February to early March is the best time, for our department anyway, because people are sick of being home and cold and having nothing to do.  Tickets must be sold way in advance to ensure a good turn out, around December seems like a good start.  Advertising is crucial to the success of this one, start it just after Christmas time, in the papers, on the radio, fliers at your local watering hole, sign at your station, the nearby community college papers/news boards.  Be sure to make sure you advertise that the bikini contest is open to the public, because if you don't you end up with what we had one year (3 of our wives that didn't want to do it in the first place on stage).
